There are five surface conventional rail lines that are part of the GTA Transit 2050 Plan and, of those, Bolton Line E is the only entirely new line. This line travels through many industrial or light commercial areas and low density residential neighbourhoods today, but more communities are being built along the line that warrant the launch of this limited service route.
This line would open in 2035 with service from the existing stations at Union, West Bend (currently Bloor West), and Weston, and new stations at Emery, Woodbridge, Elder, Nashville, Bolton, and Macville. With every station from Woodbridge to Union providing connections to mass transit, this limited service commuter line would not just be for commuters to downtown, but commuters heading to work across the GTA.
