The Hazel McCallion Line, named after Mississauga's longest serving mayor of 36 years, runs on Hurontario Street, the north-south main street of Mississauga and Brampton once labelled Highway 10. This route will connect Port Credit in the south through the dense residential areas peaking in Mississauga City Centre and then continue north through employment areas and into the residential south of Brampton and into Brampton Centre.
The first section of this route will open between Port Credit and Peel Village at Steeles in 2026 without the loop around Mississauga City Centre. Upon opening LRT vehicles from the north will cross over the 403 and immediately go to Mississauga Centre, then change vehicle directions returning to Hurontario and heading south with stops at Robert Speck and Valley Place at Burnhamthorpe and then continue south.
The GTA Transit 2050 Plan would complete this route as originally envisioned by 2035 with a loop around Mississauga City Centre, and an underground section from Peel Village (at Steeles) to Brampton Centre. The loop around Mississauga City Centre, with new stations at Kariya and Duke of York, would provide greater access to this rapidly developing area, connections to Line 5 and Line 9, and a wide range of bus services at Mississauga Centre station. Passengers not wanting to travel the loop could potentially jump the queue and move to an earlier LRT vehicle by getting off at Robert Speck and waiting for the next LRT north. The underground section in Brampton would preserve the fabric of historic Brampton while providing quick access to the downtown and the rail and other transit connections at Brampton Centre.
